We’re currently in search of a multi-talented Marketing and Communications Manager, passionate about creative work, and ready to join a rockstar team of directors, editors, and producers, at our office in Leesburg, Virginia (an hour outside of Washington DC).

We’ve partnered with a wide range of clients—including Google, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, George Mason University, and booking.com, to name a few—on a spectrum of creative projects like courses, commercials, mini-documentaries, and other narrative work.

Job Overview

The Marketing and Communications Manager will help Distant Moon achieve strategic goals through marketing, brand presence, employee recruitment, and partnerships.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Working under the leadership of the Operations Manager for all work, scheduling, and deliverables.
  • Creating a master marketing schedule and content for Distant Moon and its subsidiary companies.
  • Working with print and digital vendors to ensure final assets are quality pieces.
  • Managing the marketing and communications budget.
  • Writing copy for Distant Moon’s website, proposals, social media platforms, and other digital and print assets.
  • Updating the website and other brand presence platforms.
  • Keeping tabs on industry events Distant Moon should be present at and strategically arranging the marketing schedule around those events.
  • Conducting market research to determine the best partnerships that will further Distant Moon’s mission.
  • Creating sales funnels and drafting prospect follow up messaging.
  • Managing client and customer satisfaction surveys and reports showing Distant Moon’s Success.
  • Leading in the creation and implementation of brand guides for Distant Moon and its subsidiaries
  • Writing, building, and managing the Luminn newsletter and course marketing content.
  • Managing the launch of Distant Moon’s new website and subsidiary websites.
  • Creating marketing plans for Distant Moon’s major initiatives including original content distribution.
  • Ensuring consistency in Distant Moon’s voice and brand image across platforms.
  • Determining measurable goals, tracking stats, and presenting high-level reports.
  • Overseeing the creative development of marketing assets so they project the creative mission and vision of the company.
  • Potentially traveling periodically to represent Distant Moon, either locally or on travel jobs at Distant Moon’s expense.


Candidate Requirements

  • 5 years combined experience in project management and marketing.
  • Desire to be a part of a team building a world-class company from the ground up from a team of 15 into a large media studio.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects at once, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience creating, managing, and scheduling branded social media content.
  • Strong communication skills and marketing writing experience.
  • Astute attention to detail.
  • Portfolio link that showcases marketing work.
  • Motivated and self-directed.
  • Experience managing and editing websites.
  • Strong commitment to excellence, creativity, collaboration, integrity, and a lead-by-example work ethic.
  • Able to self-examine and revise work before submitting for review.
  • Welcomes constructive criticism and enjoys learning new ways to sharpen and hone skills.
  • Must be able to deliver high-quality products within a defined production schedule.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset that focuses on delivering the highest quality in a timeframe and efficiency that makes for a positive return on investment for all activities under your leadership.

Additional Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • Graphic Design experience.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Project Management software experience, namely Teamwork
